INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHANGED MEMBERSHIP PERIOD

We would like to inform you about a change to the THS membership period.

Starting with the autumn semester of 2026, THS annual memberships will be valid until 15 September instead of 30 September. The change applies to both new and already purchased memberships for the upcoming academic year.

Why is the membership period changing?

THS has changed its membership system, and the new system cannot handle overlapping membership periods. At the same time, Mecenat has changed its membership period, which now runs until 15 September. In order for our systems to work together, THS therefore needs to adjust its membership period.

Mecenat is not affected by this change, and you do not need to do anything there.

What does this mean for you?

If you have already purchased a membership that was previously due to be valid until 30 September 2027, it will instead be valid until 15 September 2027.

This also means that your membership’s active status may be displayed differently in our systems:

  • Mecenat: Your membership will continue to be displayed as usual.

  • SSSB: SSSB only displays the current membership period. If you have purchased an annual membership after 1 July and your membership in SSSB has an end date of 31 January, the information will be updated on 1 January when the new membership period begins. The membership will then have the new end date of 15 September.

  • Membership Portal: The Membership Portal only displays the currently active membership period. If you have not renewed your membership, your membership will not be displayed in the portal between 1 July and 15 September, even though it is still active.

If you do not purchase a new membership, your membership may therefore be valid until 15 September without being displayed as active in the Membership Portal between 1 July and 15 September.

If you want to ensure that you have an active membership displayed in the Membership Portal throughout the entire period, you can purchase a new membership from 1 July. You do not need to wait until your current membership expires.

Will my membership benefits be affected?

No. None of the membership benefits will change as a result of this change.

Have you already purchased an annual membership?

Since the membership period is shortened by two weeks as a result of the system changes, anyone who purchased an annual membership for the autumn semester of 2026 (HT 26) has the option to return their membership. Refunds can be requested until 15 November 2026.

If you purchased an annual membership that was originally supposed to be valid until 30 September 2026, and do not plan to renew your membership, you can instead visit KårX. There, you can receive a stamped membership certificate that can be used until 30 September 2026. The membership certificate can be used at Restaurant Nymble, THS Café, and KårX & Kårbokhandeln.

As a KTH student, you may become a member by logging in to our membership system and paying the membership fee. In order to become a student member of THS, you need to have an active course registration at KTH. If you are only admitted to a course, but not registered, then it is not sufficient. You can check your registrations here.

Annual membership
Price: 365 SEK
Validity period: Payments after July 1 are valid until September 15 of the following year. Payments before July 1 are valid until September 15 of the same year.

Semester membership
Price: 220 SEK
Validity period:
Spring semester: Payments after January 31 are valid until July 31 of the same year.
Fall semester: Payments after July 31 are valid until January 31 of the following year.

There are two types of memberships, the student membership and the supporting membership. Please note that it is only the student membership that comes with benefits. The supporting membership is a donation to the Student Union. You can read about the terms and conditions for each membership here.

OBS!

Please note that THS considers July 1st to be the breakpoint between the years. All payments for annual memberships before July 1st belongs to the previous academic year (ending 15th of September of the current year), all payments for annual memberships after July 1st belongs to the new academic year (ending 15th of September of the next year).

THS does not grant refund requests regarding membership-periods. (For long term sick leave, THS will make a decision from case to case).

  • Up to 50% discount when renting facilities in Nymble.
  • Free entrance to the after-exam pubs at Nymble.
  • 5% Discount on office supplies at Kårbokhandeln.

Benefits

  • Participate in THS, Chapter and Union association activities.
  • Eligibility to sign up at SSSB, the joint housing queue for all student unions in Stockholm.
  • Access to Nymble outside of regular opening hours, talk to KårX to get it.
  • Apply for positions of trust within THS Central, Chapters and Union Associations.
