Record-Breaking Support for Osqvik

THS has achieved an outstanding result in the fundraising campaign for Osqvik and the installation of a new water and sewage system. More than one thousand alumni have made a contribution, and we have so far raised over SEK 230,000 — a clear testament to the strength and commitment within our student union and among our alumni. However, we still have some way to go; the goal is to raise SEK 1 million to provide Osqvik with running water and toilets in all buildings.

The fundraising campaign is an important step in securing the long-term future of Osqvik, our student cabin in the archipelago. By investing in sustainable infrastructure, we ensure that the site can continue to serve as a natural gathering place for community, traditions, and unforgettable student memories.

  1. What does this fundraising campaign mean for THS and Osqvik?

It means a great deal! The fact that alumni, many years after graduation, still feel such strong engagement with THS and Osqvik is truly remarkable and shows the important role this place has played in their lives. Many of the most cherished memories from student life were created at Osqvik and in Nymble—memories that are now helping us secure new ones for future generations of KTH students.

It is absolutely fantastic that we are able to carry out a campaign like this, and it would never have been possible without KTH Alumni.

  1. Have you carried out this type of fundraising before?

No, this is a first! It is the first time KTH Alumni and THS have collaborated in this way, and it has truly exceeded all our expectations. Being able to benefit from KTH Alumni’s extensive network—bringing together our outstanding alumni—and to share our initiative with them has been invaluable.

  1. What does it mean for THS to be able to reach so many alumni?

KTH Alumni’s network of more than 30,000 people spread across the world is an incredible asset—for KTH, for THS, and for future generations of students. When we harness alumni engagement, we can transform it into a richer student experience for today’s students.

The network itself also opens doors for students’ futures. Completing 7.5 ECTS credits is your ticket to KTH Alumni—and, in the long run, to connections that can support your career and professional life.

  1. Looking ten years ahead, what is Osqvik then?

Once the water and sewage system is in place, all buildings at Osqvik will have proper water toilets—no more temporary solutions in the forest! We will have clean municipal water and sustainable infrastructure that will last for many years to come.

At its core, however, Osqvik will remain what it has always been: a sanctuary and oasis during student life, offering fresh archipelago air, sauna, and swimming. Osqvik is incredibly popular and well-visited—not least by our international students—and is a true asset during one’s time at KTH.

I hope that future generations of students will be able to enjoy both celebrations and relaxation at our own student cabin, just as I have. It is clear that our alumni hope for the same.

  1. What would you like to say to everyone who has contributed to this campaign?

Thank you! A heartfelt thank you to KTH Alumni for making it possible to reach all our donors. And an equally resounding thank you to all the alumni who have contributed.

Most have donated a few hundred SEK, but we have also received gifts as large as SEK 20,000—truly incredible! Now we hope for continued engagement throughout the spring so that we can bring this project all the way to completion.
